Overview
SAINT OMER 1940
Located near Saint-Omer in northern France, LFQN was an important Luftwaffe airfield during World War II. In 1941, it hosted fighter and reconnaissance units operating over the English Channel and southern England. The base featured grass runways, dispersal areas hidden among trees, hangars, and barracks used by German personnel. From this strategic location, missions were launched to support operations in the Pas-de-Calais region and to defend occupied France from RAF incursions.
