Overview
Biscarrosse 1935
The Latecoere assembly and flight test base at Biscarrosse dates back to 1930. So did Compagnie Générale Aéropostale. Air France created its first routes here, and regular passenger flights took off for New York, Natal in Brazil, the West Indies. Several hundred seaplanes - including the "Croix du Sud" - took off from Lac de Biscarrosse, and the greatest legends of the skies, Mermoz, Guillaumet, Saint Exupéry, Bonnot, Paris, Hébrard, Jozan... flew on these immense "air liners".
