L-1049 Super Constellation
The "Connie", Queen of the Skies long before the 747. A full AI crew, detailed systems, LORAN navigation and the Redwing career mode.
Queen of the Skies
Lockheed's four-engine propeller airliner, the L-1049 Super Constellation is the stretched successor to the Constellation. It flew passengers and cargo for TWA, Air France, KLM, Qantas and Eastern. Of the 579 built, 320 served with the US Navy and Air Force, for transport and airborne early warning, until the early 1980s.
Its triple tail, curved fuselage and slender wing made it an icon. With four Wright R-3350 Duplex-Cyclone engines it could cross the Atlantic non-stop and carry up to 106 passengers. Its comfort and advanced equipment for the time, such as ILS and an in-flight engine analyser, earned it its reputation.
In its spacious cockpit, crank up the four fire-belching engines and set off on a long high-altitude journey, or cruise across entire continents at mid or low altitude.
